Job Summary We are seeking a
project-based Safety Coordinator to join our team and ensure the highest level of safety compliance and culture during a 12-month large-scale project. In this field-driven role, you will work directly on the jobsite alongside Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and field crews to promote, monitor, and enforce CT Mechanical’s safety standards. You will lead orientations, conduct regular inspections, oversee incident reporting, and serve as a key resource for all safety-related matters while helping us maintain a
zero-injury worksite .
Role And Responsibilities Safety Leadership & Compliance - Enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards to ensure jobsite compliance.
- Conduct daily safety walkthroughs and scheduled site inspections using standardized checklists.
- Ensure project sites adhere to local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Maintain all required safety postings in site offices and work areas.
- Ensure first-aid kits, PPE, and emergency equipment are properly stocked and accessible.
Training & Onboarding - Lead safety orientations for new employees, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Host toolbox talks and schedule regular safety meetings for all site personnel.
- Provide real-time coaching and feedback to field staff on safe work practices.
Incident Management & Reporting - Investigate all accidents, near misses, and property damage incidents thoroughly and promptly.
- Document findings, determine root causes, and collaborate on corrective actions.
- Classify and record occupational injuries and illnesses in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Maintain a comprehensive log of all safety-related incidents and resolutions.
Collaboration & Culture Building - Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and HR to identify, address, and mitigate safety risks.
- Support leadership in fostering a proactive, zero-injury safety culture across the project.
- Communicate safety expectations consistently and reinforce accountability at all levels.
Continuous Improvement - Monitor trends, identify recurring issues, and propose process improvements.
- Stay current with OSHA updates, industry safety best practices, and emerging compliance requirements.
Requirements & Qualifications - 1-3 years of safety coordination or related construction experience.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safety best practices.
- Experience in mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing contracting is strongly preferred.
- OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 preferred.
- CPR certification required; First Responder certification a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with safety management tools is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills.
- Effective oral and written communication; able to lead and coach diverse field teams.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing project priorities.
